Hot Men Friday

Do you think he was just born this way?
 Friday? Really? Nice!

This guy has been on my mind. Not real sure why although I caught a few minutes of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof recently and was a little blown away by how damn good looking and how damn smokin' that man was.

That movie is worth a hunt-down if any of you guys have never seen it. Elizabeth Taylor is eye-hurtingly beautiful as well.

Maggie: Why can't you lose your good looks, Brick? Most drinkin' men lose theirs. Why can't you? I think you've even gotten better-lookin' since you went on the bottle. You were such a wonderful lover... You were so excitin' to be in love with. Mostly, I guess, 'cause you were... If I thought you'd never never make love to me again... why, I'd find me the longest, sharpest knife I could and I'd stick it straight into my heart. I'd do that. Oh, Brick, how long does this have to go on? This punishment? Haven't I served my term? Can't I apply for a pardon?

Brick: Lately, that finishin' school voice of yours sounds like you was runnin' upstairs to tell somebody the house is on fire.

Maggie: Is it any wonder? You know what I feel like? I feel all the time like a cat on a hot tin roof.

Brick: Then jump off the roof, Maggie, jump off it. Now cats jump off roofs and they land uninjured. Do it. Jump.

Maggie: Jump where? Into what?

Brick: Take a lover.

Maggie: I don't deserve that! I can't see any man but you. With my eyes closed, I just see you. Why can't you get ugly, Brick? Why can't you please get fat or ugly or somethin' so I can stand it?

Brick: You'll make out fine. Your kind always does.

Maggie: Oh, I'm more determined than you think. I'll win all right.

Brick: Win what? What is, uh, the victory of a cat on a hot tin roof?

Maggie: Just stayin' on it, I guess. As long as she can.

Texting

I took Pup to the eye doctor. He hadn't been for about 10 years and we figured he might need me to drive him home after handsome Dr. H dilates his eyes. Which the good doc did.

So . . . I'm out in the waiting room, paging through my new Ikea catalog and I get a text message from Pup.

Pup: They checked the wrong eye. They gave me a patch for the brown eye.
Pup: I'm scared. Come rescue me.
Me: You are bad!!
Me: Tell Dr. H to PLUG your brown eye. You don't need it. :)
Pup: Biggus Dickus is waiting for you.
Me: Oh? Have I met him?
Me: You behave! Dr. H is a nice man.
Pup: I have to poop.
Me: The brown eye has spoken.

Yes, between the two of us, our real-age is about 24. That would be 12 times 2.

I can't lie, the man makes me laugh. He's as inappropriate as a garter-belt on a baseball pitcher (thank you Bull Durham).

I've Heard

Image stolen from Google
If you see something, you should say something

If you shake it more than once you're playing with it

That laughing every day keeps the doctor away

A bit of sugar in the red sauce takes the edge off

A glass of red wine every day makes your heart smile

That coffee is, bottom line, good for me

That a dab of butter is way better than a dab of rancid oil

All you need is love

She's buying a stairway to heaven

A mittfull of vitamins is hard to swallow

Sitting at a computer over six hours a day will kill you

Nobody likes a smart-ass. Well, maybe this one isn't true.

Hendricks gin kicks ass

Exercise puts you in a good mood

No one is looking at your imperfections; they're too busy worrying about their own

Good habits are hard to form, but easy to live with

Bad habits are easy to form, but hard to live with

When a dog likes you, you can't be all bad

When a dog doesn't like you, I don't like you

A wooden spoon placed over a pot of boiling water will keep it from boiling over

Young girls do get weary

The sun is actually a good thing. Play nice in it.

Working hours in the yard is good exercise

I eat too much
I drink too much
I want too much
Too much

Hot Men Friday

Leonardo DiCaprio

I'm one of the, maybe, two people in the world who refused to see Titanic. Drove my oldest daughter, Bella, INSANE at the time. "Mom! It's awesome"! Her eyes filled with tears. She just couldn't believe I'd be so beastly.

The truth is I wasn't a fan of Leo. And guess what? The boat sank. Can you spell cynical? (Uh uh, I had to spell-check it - ha!)

I saw the spread Rolling Stone did on him and I've enjoyed several of his movies over the past few years.

Pup and I went to see Inception last week. It's good, and it takes you spinning in a few places (not nearly like The Sixth Sense did back in the day though.) and I noticed, once again, that Leo is a damn fine actor. He's a bit fluffy too and I like a tiny bit of fluff on a guy. Chiseled in stone abs kinda scare me!

Mornings with Moaning and Whining

I got up, stole one of Pup's t-shirts, and went down, down to the Dungeon. Waded through the little spider webs that pop up daily (oh that's so ick), and did my morning workout. Watched the news as well. A tofer. I'm toned here AND there.

I keep forgetting where to breath. Inhale on the approach; exhale on the effort. Sometimes I forget to breath altogether.

It's very easy to talk myself out of going down there because, well, because I'm ME after all, but habits are developed with repetition so I am a repeating BORE at this point.

Don't laugh! You'll be jealous when MY arse is hard and round as an apple. Or is it a peach? Men's asses are apples and women's are peaches yes? No wonder I'm confused. That is way too much fruit.

It's all good.

It's all good until I go upstairs to make my COFFEE and look what I see.

Yep, yesterday's laundry. Still hanging on the line.

Is there something I can do to stretch my mind? Ha!

The Payoff

The first of my tomatoes! They're little, but look delicious.

Calvin thinks so too.

We had our computer tech out last night and I fed him dinner, Blue Moon, and some red. I was napping in the new recliner while the boys were swearing and installing down in the office.

Life is good.

One Man's Heaven is Another Man's Hell

I love this cartoonist.

~~~~~~~~~
I twist my hair. Really often and really energetically.
When I'm thinking, when I'm reading, when I'm talking, when I'm writing, when I'm zoning.
Half the time my hair is in a knot, twisted into a hair clip and chunks pulled out and pinned up on the opposite side. It's crazy, but I've done it since the third grade.
Most bad habits get dropped way before middle school. How many adults do you know that still bite their fingernails? Or use a pacifier?
But twisting is still going on here on my head.
~~~~~~~

I meant to talk about the idea behind the cartoon.

My heaven is digging at a flea market, going slowly through a thrift store, scoring a find at a consignment store, reading a book I cannot put down, listening to the radio (sometimes), weeding (weird), dusting (told ya), and obsessing.

There are more, but they don't sound interesting. Today anyway.

What are the things that are heavenly to you?
