Today is the 30th anniversary of John Lennon's death.

Now here is a sign of the new times - Yoko Ono tweeted about it. Yoko Ono - tweeted. A woman that once sat in a gallery and had people snip off pieces of her clothes as art. Those two actions, tweeting and snipping, do not belong together. I am nonplussed.

*A couple of commenters are confused and do not what's going on. I thought I had been talking about it incessantly, but apparently I'm more annoying in my head. :)

We are adding a den to our house and the process began in earnest yesterday! Very exciting around here.

Makes me wanna go RVing!

We're now seriously talking about this. We've done Mexico a few times; lovely lovely. But we both realized that neither of us has seen much of the U.S.

Our family camped a lot when my girls were small. Lots! I loved camping!

Bella was trying to get me and Pup to come to the Barrons (I think it's actually the Barrens, but that makes me sad) and I said I don't tent camp anymore (I need a bed and a washroom). She thought me ridiculous.

Nope, just not 20 something. It hurts to sleep on an air mattress! And when I have to pee, I don't want to have to get dressed. Peeing is the hardest part of camping. Where? How? How many mosquito's will I wipe off my ass before pulling up my pants?  Will anyone be watching?

Years ago when our large group camped my friend (I won't out you) had to TAKE HER PANTS OFF every time she peed in the woods. Yes, OFF. She just couldn't get that lean-against-a-tree thing working for her.

One of the creepy guys found out about it and hmm . . . every time she had to pee, so did he.

Aaaaah, good times.

What's on My Phone?

I was clearing my phone off this morning because it was bugging me and beeping at me that it was full (annoying - figures right? BTW - I can hear you, I'm sitting right here.).

Here are a few examples of what I felt was important enough to get a shot of. So arbitrary!

Hot Men Friday

Alright now . . . yes . . . nummylicious . . .

I could look at this face all day. And listen to him all day. I would love to hang out with him all day because from all accounts he is an awesome guy. A little goofy, a little self-deprecating, a little hot. Oh wait - that's a lie - a lot hot.

He had a talk show on the Bio channel last year and I watched just to see him in his glorious nerdliness and watch him sing with that week's guest. Awesome.

Who can resist a man in a convertible? Or a head of Elvis-hair? Or a nose I'd like to suck on? (Sorry daughters - one of them gets totally squidged out when I talk suchly.) Or a white t-shirt? Or a plaid shirt? Should I go on?

Let's just look at him for a bit.

In My Life*

Last Wednesday evening I got a call from my wasband that a dear friend of ours had died.

He was dear to us in millions of ways. He was Little Buzzy's (wasband's) best friend, married one of my best friends, was the best man in our wedding, was our Bella's godfather, plucked my wasband out of a river while the two of them were smelting, made me laugh always, was much loved by all the nieces and nephews in his large and warm family, and loved by all of us. So loved by all of us.

I'm reeling from this. If I'm reeling I can't think how his family is doing. How will we do without him.

I'm sad. Sad sad sad. Tears and more tears. Tears for his wife, my old friend. Tears for all of us that love him. Tears and laughter for the memories.

May I say something so complete in its DUH-factor? We take each other for granted. We expect things to stay the same and they don't.

1983 - Big Buzzy, Teri, Bella, Little Buzzy - yes Wasband is that damn handsome.

Big Buzzy, remember how I used to cut your hair? You would say to me, "Dizzy - don't get too happy with those scissors. I don't want to look like the last time." or "Dizzy - my hair is CURLY! Don't get too short." I would snip away and occasionally say, "whoops!" just to get you riled up.

I remember when something would happen, good or bad, and I'd look at him to see what he was thinking and he would invariably say, "Dizzy, what can I say"? His big hands outstretched and questioning. Laughing all the while.

I really loved him and the last couple of times I saw him I would hug him and when I would go for a second hug he would say, "Dizzy, you already got one!" He was as squishy inside as he was all grizzly on the outside.

Here's to flannel shirts, Schmidt beer, lot parties, putting the speakers on the top of a car, shaking it more than once, and loving someone more than you realize.

We miss you. Please come back.
