Here Comes the Sun

Same street - 24 hours apart.

Bella had the same type shots on her blog and I'm betting many bloggers from Minnesota have had similar photos, but I got nothing else peeps. NOTHING!

I'm a boring drudge. I go to work, I come home, I go to bed.

I was telling Pup last night that when my girls were little I had a job and I'd run in the back door and begin making supper practically with my coat still on. And a million other things got done after that.

He said, "You were younger then babe."

I immediately started pouting. "I don't like that answer!"

I fear he's right, but balance needs to find a way into my heart.

BALANCE - IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT BIKING.

Or something.

Here's the good stuff:

  1. Easter was a blast. We made brunch here at Chez Emerson, ate it up, and played Rock Band so hard Lorenzo got blisters from drumming. We rock! I'm certain we sounded like cats being killed, but I DON'T CARE! It was fun.
  2. I have gotten to the point at work where I'm actually GETTING little work-related jokes. You know the kind. The kind where you nod knowingly and make someone laugh with your insight and schadenfreude. Yeah that's right baby, I really am this witty and fun to be with. Well . . . sometimes.
  3. Pup and I are enjoying The Big Room (newest incarnation of the room's name - family still loves The Pit and B (son-in-law) still loves Den.) Pup and I had continued calling it The New Space, then it evolved to The Big Room. Stay tuned cuz I know you can't wait to see what we call it next. Is that sarcasm I smell?? Hmm?
  4. The glimmers of spring I'm seeing are making me silly and hopeful.
That's it from me peeps. What's doing with you all? Are you knee deep in the hoopla?

. . . and they called it CHARLIE!

I'm trying like HELL to not pay attention, but you know how it is.

I Love the Smell of Regret in the Morning

I'm going into an office regularly the past few weeks. No, I don't have a job yet, but I'm working in Pup's office putting my education to work.

He's training me on a few things.

Have you been trained on anything by your husband? You have? Does he still have his nipples (Pup actually hides his when we're having a 'discussion' ala Doug from King of Queens).

I'm being trained on a simple, yet many stepped process. Involving so many steps. Damn! These accountant-types are so exacting! WTH? What's a few missed steps? (Witness Pup clutching not only his nipples, but his heart.)

A few of you have been in my brain. You know this can't be easy.

The first session went well. I only said he was mean four or five times and I should file a grievance with Human Resources because I don't think your boss is supposed to run into your office randomly to squeeze your boobies or exclaim, "Show me Felix"! But that's how we roll at The Firm.

In the first training, I diligently made notes. A few pages worth. He was throwing lots of terms and phrases at me. I'm sure talk like this was a panty-dropper in his past, but no panties were dropping. I'm all about working when I'm at The Firm.

At the second training session, I take out my notes to start the process and I draw a blank. The notes look like they were written in Latin. Or by a first grader. You pick. What the hell was I talking about?

I throw my hands in the air, "None of this makes sense"! I say. "I can't tell how to begin."

"What do you mean Sweetie? Let's start this payroll."

Pup looks at me over his reading glasses with a look in his eye. Could that be regret? Could it be the realization that I'm not really born to do this kind of work? Could it be he needs to wait a hot minute before thinking me totally goofusy?

The hardest thing about training someone is they aren't in your head understanding everything being done. I've trained people in the past. It's hard to not think them dumbasses.

Poor Pup. He wants help. He needs help. I'm available.

"Let's start writing procedures." I say in my corporate-voice. "I'm going to write every step down. Every step.

Again he looks at me. He can tell I mean it.

We go through the process once more. I'm writing every step down.

He looks at me over his glasses again. He has a look in his eye. Could that be hope?

It will be good. It's just hard to see the end when you're at the beginning.

Meanwhile, me and Felix close the door to our office and work.

Why Did You Buy Me That?

Who hasn't gotten a ridiculous gift over the years?

I had a sister-in-law in my past life that was the QUEEN of weird gifts. Like the see-through bathrobe in neon green she made my wasband; never did figure out what the hell that fabric was.

Or the broken plastic clock shaped like a piano? That was spiff.

I am only picking on her because - well - because she's in Missouri and she's an ex sister-in-law.

Check this out! Hilarious!

Thank you deb-oh-rah for this. I laughed myself tearless.

Random Humor

I've stumbled across all of these and either they made me laugh or I thought I'd use them or I just didn't want to let them go.

Thought I'd share the crazy. I really laughed my arse off at every one of these. Kinda tells you something yes?

Are you laughing?

The Solution!

I was recently helping one of my sil's (shout out to Penny Lane!) get some items ready for a benefit auction she was heading up. So while we were wandering about in The Dollar Tree and while I was looking for some suitable cutie stuffed animals for one of the baskets, I found these:
The idea is the pink one is for Pup to select something and the blue one is for me to select something. Something we want the other to do.

For instance, on the blue doll there is one that says "pick up your clothes" or "rub my feet."
On the pink doll there is one that says "no more purses" (like that's going to happen - ha!) or back rub.
We've been having the BEST time with these the past couple of days.

I'll find the pink one on my office chair - "dishes don't do themselves" selected. I snort. He laughs. It's awesome!

I'll place the blue one in his cookie jar - "wash the dishes" selected. He snorts. I laugh. Brilliant!

The only drawback. I need additional choices. Something like.

Let's run away to Mexico forever

Let's go shopping

Let me decorate the house only the way I want. (teasin')

Stop jiggling my butt

Let's be happy forever

You see where I'm going?

What would be on your request doll?

And Now . . . a Pause from Our Sponsors

Heff mentioned in one of his comments that we (I believe he only meant me, but I'm using my blog-license) should get out there in the moment. Less writing - more living.

It's because we have the fever. The spring fever. The spring fling. You know, where we fling everything out, polish it up, place it on the shelf, and enjoy the tidy.

Whooo daddies, it's a beautiful day.

One Year of Blogging Today

And the adventure continues.

One year ago I had just been laid off from my job and I was feeling lower than an inner-city kid's pants. I decided to start yapping.

One year later and I'm still yapping. Who knew I had so much to say?

Just about everyone who knows me.

Gotta love me to hug me.

Valentine's Day at White Castle

Check it out. Maybe Pup and I should have rethought our steak-at-home night.
