The Phenomenon that is SPUD!

WOW! What an incredible saga, Spud has completely changed my opinion on South African authors!! These amazing books has captured my imagination, every page filled with the story and life of Spud Milton and his journey in the early South African era. Author John van de Ruit’s writing style is superb, a combination of easy and intelligently-complex aspects that, when combined results in a unique and great read!

At first glace Spud might look like a lightweight "high-school-book", but I was mesmerized and completely consumed by the characters from beginning to end, I even managed to read all three the Spud books within a week and the only letdown was that the fourth book hasn’t been completed yet! Each character comes to life with in the pages as you read, you can see the Milton family and there antics or Rambo and his egotistic rants. These visually or lively characters creates a hunger to be apart of the "Crazy Eights" and to go for a night-swim or on one of Fatty’s séances in the chapel.

Spud the movie looks to be as funny and captivating as the books, speaking to a member of the incredible production team that worked on Spud, it became clear as to how fun and funny the Spud movie would be! The movie shot in KZN – South Africa sounds and looks to be a worthwhile film to go and see!
