Teen asks for death penalty after hacking woman and child to death

March 1, 2012, a 20-year-old male, surnamed Ma, stood trial at the No.2 Intermediate Court of Beijing, on charges of bloodily hacking a woman and her 2-year-old son to death with an axe.The victims family were overwhelmed with emotions holding the photos of the deceased in court, while Ma showed no regret at all and often pulled his faces urging the judge to impose a death penalty to him.Ma was born in 1991, in Heilongjiang province. He was hired as a porter in a trading company in Chaoyang District, Beijing, before he murdered the baby and the woman, surnamed Yi, who was the daughter-in-law of the company’s owner, working as an accountant in the company too.

Ma said he had no feud with Ms. Yi. May 22, last year, it was Sunday. When Ma intended to sleep in on the day, the owner however woke him up early at 6am to off load cargo. He was pissed, and secretly put over 20 sleeping pills to the company’s meal in order to drug his owner and workmates. As a result, all of them were then sent to the hospital, due to the overdose of the sedative drug.In the evening of the same day, when Ma was about to go to bed, Ms. Yi asked him to replace the light bulb, and then look after her 2-year-old kid. Ma refused to look after her kid, but Ms. Yi insisted, saying that he was the employee of their family. Consequently, the two fell into an argument and fight. The teenage went totally insane at the end, and brutally hacked Ms. Yi and her 2 year old kid into a pool of blood.After bloody murder, Ma dragged Ms. Yi’s body outside to place under a truck, and threw the dead baby to a stock house. He then went back to the rooms of Ms. Yi and the owner, and took away 3,000 yuan cash and other personal belongings to flee the scene by driving away the owner’s Buick car.

Ma said it was his first time to drive a car, and finally he crashed into a railing. He then left the car and took a taxi to Wuchang City, Heilongjiang Province, with 2,000 yuan, because he wanted to go back home to see his family and friends. Ma added, he ever thought of killing himself during the running, but the next day he was arrested by the police.The defense counsel sated in court that Ma’s parents divorced in his childhood, and when he was four years old, his father was executed for the crime of murder. Since then, Ma had been often physically abused by his step mother.Ma gave up self defense in court however, and did not want to say more about his childhood. He only said that he was unable to sleep and had intentions to kill himself when he was young.

Ma showed no remorse to the deceased victims and axe attack. He said in his final statement that he hoped the judge to impose death penalty to him and execute him immediately. But the judge did not pronounce a sentence in court straightaway that day.
